About Victor SoundWorks

Victor SoundWorks is a campus dedicated to the past, present, and future of recorded sound. Located in Camden County, New Jersey — the region where the Victor Talking Machine Company first established its industrial and cultural presence — SoundWorks brings together preservation, performance, and production within a single institutional setting.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, the Victor name became synonymous with the emerging world of recorded music. From Camden, the company manufactured phonographs and records that carried opera, jazz, blues, and popular song into homes across the globe. The systems developed in Victor’s factories and laboratories helped establish the foundations of the modern music industry and the technologies that support it.

Victor SoundWorks builds upon that lineage by bringing together several interconnected institutions. The His Master’s Voice Official Museum, Memorial, & Archive preserves the history of recorded sound through collections, exhibitions, and research. Victor Studios provides professional recording environments that reflect multiple eras of recording practice. The Victrola Theatre presents immersive musical productions and performances designed for attentive listening and historical interpretation.

Together, these spaces form a working campus devoted to the craft and culture of sound.
